Guwahati: 24 April: Beltola College inaugurated Cine Club on 24 April, 2024 in the presence of prestigious dignitaries including Pomi Baruah, Director Higher Education, Government of Assam; Manju Bora, Filmfare Award Winner Director and Producer of Assamese Film Industry; Dr. Akshata Narain, Group President of AM Television Pvt. Ltd.; Dipak Dutra, Sound Engineer, Jyoti Chitraban, Guwahati, Pankaj Mazumdar, Director, producer, lyricist in Assamese Film Industry and Dr. Saumar Jyoti Mahanta, Principal, Sivsagar Commerce College and President, Assam College Principal Council.
The programme started with the enlightening of the ceremonial lamp by Pomi Baruah. Inaugural speech was delivered by Dr Ajit Borkotoky, principal of the college. In her speech, Pomi Baruah spoke about the importance and influence of good movies in the daily life of students and common people. Manju Bora spoke of the history of the film industry, its movements of various international Film Societies and their struggles in course of time. She also talked about international Film festivals where good and artistic movies sent from worldwide are showcased including India and Assam. She focused on making good movies as well as commercial movies. Dr. Akshata Narain, Dipak Dutta, Pankaj Mazumdar spoke about the importance of the Assamese Film Industry. An Assamese Film- “Sarbagunakara Srimanta Sankardev" was cast. The programme was hosted by Rashmirekha Hazarika, Coordinator, IQAC. The programme came to a close at 2:30 pm.
